The Benton Police Department is pleased to pass along that the overall crime rate in the city has gone down by 7.14%. This is based on information reported as part of the National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS) comparing crime data from 2013 to 2012.

The focus of this program will be conducting traffic enforcement in high traffic areas with a special emphasis on DWI/DUI, including sobriety checkpoints and seat belt enforcement.

On 1/31/14, at approximately 3:00 AM, an officer with the Benton Police Department was conducting a foot patrol of Bailey’s Trailer Park (601 N. Summit Rd.) when he observed a subject wearing all dark clothing walking near wood line behind a trailer.
