Recently, one of the Benton Police Department School Resource Officers, Officer Jackson, came up with an idea to help make school zones safer. The idea was to place ‘No Cell Phone Use in School Zone’ signs up in every loading/unloading zone in the school district.

Recently, the school resource officer supervisor, Sgt. Lisa Stuart, was at the Benton Alternative Learning Center (ALC) speaking with the staff about the children. She learned that enrollment was up due to some children transferring in from other programs and there wasn’t enough equipment for the PE classes until more could possibly be bought later in the year.

School will be starting back on August 19th and the Benton Police Department has a new lesson plan. There will be an additional school resource officer, Sgt. Lisa Stuart, added to the current lineup this school year along with a totally redesigned patrol vehicle and uniform.

On 3/13/13, officers arrested a suspect, identified as Lisa Wright (W/F, 37 YOA), off a traffic stop after determining that she was involved in numerous property crimes. Through investigative work the officers were able to determine that Ms. Wright was in possession of items that had been reported stolen.
