On Monday, Feb. 27, detectives with the Benton Police Department received information from the Arkansas State Police Crimes Against Children Division of a possible child abuse case. A 14-year-old female reported sexual allegations with 57-year-old Bruce Wayne DeVries of Benton.

Courtney Zyronne Johnson, 20, who had been on the lam since escaping from a mental health facility in Benton on Feb. 5 was located Wednesday.
Three suspects are facing more than 40 felony charges each after 43 suspected cloned credit cards are found in their possession. The suspects reportedly attempted to fraudulently load gift cards at a Walmart store in Malvern and after they left, the Malvern employees contacted employees at the Benton Walmart about the suspects.

The goal of the Benton Police Department through March is to reduce traffic accidents to “Below 100” and that will be attainable with the assistance of the public. Driver safety tips and traffic laws will be posted on BNPD social media sites (Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram) and the public is encouraged to engage and ask questions to officers.

During the “28-Days of Hide & Seek” initiative in February, officers with the Benton Police Department served a total of 358 warrants. There were 37 felony warrants served, and 281 misdemeanor warrants served. There were also 40 warrants served from other law enforcement agencies.
