Benton Police Department launched “Operation Grinch Halt” today as a means of promoting holiday safety for businesses and individuals. The campaign will emphasize preventive tips and measures, along with patrol presence.

Over the Thanksgiving holiday, Benton Police Department participated in the annual Click It or Ticket seat belt enforcement campaign, successfully bringing awareness to area residents of the importance of buckling up.

Benton Police Department responded to assist Bryant Police Department at approximately 3:30 p.m. Tuesday near Springhill Road in Bryant. Suspects Brittany Spades, 24, of Benton, and Timothy Hughes, 33, also of Benton, were taken into custody without incident and charged with multiple crimes.

The Benton Police Department, along with other agencies, will be teaming up with the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration this Thanksgiving on a high-visibility Click It or Ticket campaign in an effort to reduce fatalities resulting from a failure to buckle up.
