Benton Police Department Accident Reports go Online

In order to reduce associated inconveniences and better serve the public, the Benton Police Department has implemented a new online process for obtaining copies of accident reports. By employing cutting-edge technology provided by PoliceReports.US, LLC, citizens and insurers can now access accident reports from any computer via the internet, eliminating the need to travel to the police department or request a report by mail.

While accident reports will still be available from the police department’s Records Division for a fee of $10.00, we are pleased to be able to offer the public the convenience of using this new, user friendly, online method. Starting Monday, February 13th, accident reports generated on 1/1/2012 or after, can be accessed on the PoliceReports website at: www.policereports.us  or from the city’s website at: www.bentonpolice.org.  Those who wish to access reports at the city’s website should go to the police department page and then follow the accident report link. To search for a report, users can enter either the report number, date of the accident, location, or driver’s name. The report can then be printed immediately, at home or at the office.

Should a person require a report prior to January 01, 2012 they can still retrieve it electronically by calling the Benton Police Department Records Division. The report can then be uploaded within a matter of minutes in most cases.

Because this is a self-service feature, available anytime of the day or week, members of the public should expend less time and effort to obtain the reports they need. In addition, the police department will also realize significant savings by reducing the time required to process requests for many reports each year. Electronic distribution of accident reports online will allow the police department to be more efficient while providing a higher level of customer service.

Citizens will be able to obtain reports online (normally within 24-hours of the accident) instead of waiting in line. The charge for this service is $14.00 and is payable by major credit or debit card as well as by an account through PoliceReports.US, LLC.
