Following reports of a sex crime occurring within the city of Benton and subsequent investigation, BNPD officers arrested 46-year-old Timothy Steppach, of Benton, on Thursday, Jan. 25 and charged him with two counts of Sexual Assault Fourth Degree.
After his initial arrest, victims provided additional information and BNPD detectives/officers obtained an additional warrant for Steppach for the following charges: Rape- Class Y Felony; Residential Burglary- Class B Felony; False Imprisonment- Class A Misdemeanor; Interference with Emergency Communications- Class A Misdemeanor; Assault 3rd- Class C Misdemeanor; and an additional count of Sexual Assault Fourth Degree- Class A Misdemeanor.
Arrangements were made for Steppach to turn himself in, and he was taken into custody today without incident.
