MAN ARRESTED FOR ALLEGEDLY BURGLARIZING BENTON CHURCH

Jamerson JamesA Sherwood man previously arrested in Faulkner County faces charges for allegedly burglarizing the Temple Missionary Baptist Church in Benton. Detectives from the Benton Police Department were contacted at approximately 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30 by Faulkner County Sheriff’s deputies concerning their arrest of 26-year-old James M. Jamerson of Sherwood.

According to Faulkner County deputies, they responded to a possible burglary in process and located the described vehicle. Deputies reportedly attempted to make a traffic stop, when the driver, later identified as Jamerson, led a pursuit. Jamerson later wrecked the vehicle on Interstate 40, deputies said.

Jamerson was allegedly driving a stolen vehicle and numerous items reported stolen, along with various pills and drug paraphernalia were found inside the vehicle. Faulkner County Sheriff’s deputies said that during the investigation, Jamerson admitted to breaking into the Temple Missionary Baptist Church in Benton.

During a later interview with Benton Police Department detectives, Jamerson reportedly confessed again to the burglary of the church in Benton. Jamerson faces charges of Commercial Burglary, class C felony; Theft of Property, class D felony; and 1st degree Criminal Mischief, class A misdemeanor in Benton.

In Faulkner County, Jamerson faces charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance, class D felony; four counts of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, class D felony; Residential Burglary, class B felony; Theft by Receiving, class D felony; and Fleeing, class D felony.
