OFFICERS OBSERVE SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE AT BANK AND MAKE DWI AND DRUG ARREST

BrittanyHazelwoodOn 12/26/14, at approximately 4:03 am, officers with the Benton Police Department observed a vehicle parked in the Bank of the Ozarks parking lot (Alcoa Rd. branch) with the engine running.  Since the business was closed during that time of the day, they proceeded to check it out and made contact with the sole occupant, Brittany Hazelwood (29 YOA) of Benton.  
 
Officers detected a strong odor of suspected marijuana coming from within the vehicle and Hazelwood demonstrated signs of possible impairment. During subsequent investigation, officers found suspected Marijuana and Methamphetamine, along with drug paraphernalia used to ingest illegal narcotics.  
 
Hazelwood was transported to the Saline County Detention Facility for processing without incident.  Hazelwood is charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance-Felony (Methamphetamine), Possession of a Controlled Substance-Misdemeanor (Marijuana), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, DWI, and Refusal to Submit to Chemical Testing.
