Officers participate in school sponsored functions both during and after regular school hours, including sports events, dances, meetings, and rallies. They work with school counselors on school projects and clubs. They teach a variety of subjects in the classroom such as drug prevention, child safety, juvenile law, drugs, alcohol, baby sitting, sex crimes, and other preventions related subjects.
Officers assist school personnel with monitoring child abuse. They conduct preliminary investigations of violations of law that occur on the school campus. School resource officers have frequent contact with department personnel, other law enfocement agencies, school officials, parents, students, businesses, and the general public. They are also involved in the boys and girls oganizations and civic organizations. |

Benton Police School Resource officers work under the general direction of the Special Operations Sergeant and perform law enforcement functions, teaching and counseling in and around the Benton School System in an effort to prevent juvenile delinquency, while coordinating activiteis with the school supervisory personnel.
