Code Enforcement

The objective of the Code Enforcement division is to inspect dwellings, premises and vacant lots for compliance with City codes; to investigate violations of City codes and Ordinaces for zoning, signs, subdivisions, and landscaping, to initiate and document appropriate actions to ensure violations are corrected and are in complainace.

Code enforcement officers recieve written and telephone complaints from citizens regarding violations.  They complete inspections in repsonse to those complaints.  If required they notify the owner of the property for the violations and give a time frame for correction based on the ordinance.  They may also be required to issue citations and testify in court regarding these cases.

Officers also provide technical information and answers to questions in person about zoning, signs, landscaping subdivision ordinances, or other regulations. Files are maintained for each complaint and / or inspection including the inspection report, a listing of any violations, citations issued, related correspondence, and notes final disposition.
