Two suspects, Randalon Danner (B/M, 28 YOA) and Billy Smallwood (W/M, 42 YOA), were arrested by detectives with the Benton Police Danner and Smallwood are both suspects in recent Breaking and Entering crimes and for theft of property. The incidents involved vehicles being broken into in Longview Apartment complex last month. Detectives obtained information that lead to Smallwood’s arrest last month and subsequently to Danner’s arrest last week for these crimes. Both subjects are charged with two counts of both Breaking or Entering and Theft of Property, which are all Felonies. Smallwood was arrested on 11/8/11 and then released on a $1,000 sheriff’s bond. While out on bond, Smallwood was charged on 12/12/11 with 5 counts of burglary. He is charged with 2 counts of Residential Burglary, 3 counts of Commercial Burglary, and 3 counts of Theft of Property (misdemeanor). The Commercial Burglary charges stem from three different acts of burglary occurring at the Benton Animal Control office (Willow St.) over the past few weeks. Both of these individuals were able to be apprehended in part due to citizens looking out for one another. The importance of the neighborhood watch program is paramount in helping look out for each other and helping to ensure those that commit crimes such as these are held accountable. The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are possible in relation to these incidents. Anybody with information relating to this crime is encouraged to please contact the Benton Police Department at 778-1171 or leave a tip at 315-TIPS.
