Recently, detectives with the Benton Police Department working in conjunction with detectives from Little Rock Police Department arrested a suspect in relation to recent lockbox thefts and residential burglaries.  The suspect, George Sedberry (W/M, 40 YOA), was arrested in Benton for charges filed by the Little Rock Police Department.

Sedberry was arrested for burglary charges stemming from a residential burglary that took place in Little Rock.  This incident involved him taking a lockbox to obtain the key out of it to gain unlawful entry into a home, and the homeowner provided information that lead to his arrest.

Our detectives are currently working with Little Rock and other surrounding agencies that have seen this type of crime to determine the extent of Sedberry’s involvement.  Sedberry was found in possession of numerous items related to the burglaries and is the primary suspect in cases that took place here.

Since the first of June we’ve experienced ten incidents where the lockboxes were taken from a residence and in some of the cases the keys were used to obtain entry into the home.  This type of crime is a new occurrence in our area and we are encouraging residents to ensure the lockboxes are secured to their door as intended, because in every case reported to us the lockbox was stolen when it was unattached.

Detectives are diligently working leads on this case and are encouraging anybody with information involving these cases or Mr. Sedberry are encouraged to contact the Benton Police Department at 778-1171 or 315-TIPS.
