Bryant/Benton Special Investigative Unit Busts Meth Lab Print

On 8/8/11, at approximately 6:00 AM, officers with the Bryant & Benton Police Department’s Special Investigative Unit executed a search warrant at 206 N. Fourth Street.   This was part of a week long investigation conducted by both departments. 

During the investigative process officers found numerous items and chemicals used to manufacture methamphetamine.  Additionally, they found 1.4 lbs. of suspected methamphetamine in the residence that has an estimated street value of approximately $45,000. 

Those arrested at the scene were Jarrod Holmes (W/M, 31 YOA), Crystal Layton (W/F, 28 YOA), and Jessica Vonkanel (W/F, 25 YOA).   

Holmes and Layton were charged with Manufacturing Methamphetamine, Possession of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine), Use of Another Person’s Property to Facilitate a Crime, Maintaining a Drug Premises, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Use of Communication Device to Facilitate a Crime, and an Enhanced Penalty for Manufacturing Within a 1000’ proximity to certain facilities (schools, parks, daycares).  Vonkanel was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. 

All three subjects were transported to the Saline County Detention Facility for processing.  This is on-going investigation and more charges might be forthcoming.
