The Benton Police Department, in conjunction with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, will be hosting a fishing derby this month.  The “Hooked on Fishing” fishing derby will be held on June 22nd, 2011 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Sunset Lake in Benton. 

    The fishing derby is open to all children ages 6 thru 12 and registration is free.  The Game & Fish Commission will be providing 2 truckloads of fish on the morning of the event and there will be prizes for the biggest and smallest catfish caught.  Children need to bring their fishing pole with them to the event.  Due to this event, Sunset Lake will be closed to the public from 6:00 AM until Noon on June 22nd.
