Law enforcement agencies in Saline County took in 734.1 pounds of prescription medicine during Operation Medicine Cabinet III held on April 30th.  Agencies that participated were Alexander Police Department, Benton Police Department, Bryant Police Department, Haskell Police Department, and the Saline County Sheriff’s Office. 

Individual totals for the event were: 

Alexander Police Department:  4.6 lbs.
Benton Police Department:        512.8 lbs.
Bryant Police Department:        28.8 lbs.
Haskell Police Department:        12.9 lbs.
Saline County Sheriff’s Office:  175 lbs. 

    The event was part of the 2nd National Drug Take Back day that was being held nationwide.  There were approximately 140 law enforcement agencies across the state that participated in the event, and this was the third event for Saline County.  During the first event held in early 2010 there were over 52,000 pills collected in Saline County, and during the last event there was 540 lbs. received. 

    During Operation Medicine Cabinet III numerous gift cards and coupons were handed out to those that took the time to drop off their old medicine.  Additionally, there was a raffle for St. Louis Cardinal’s tickets and cash at the Benton locations.
