Central Arkansas Crime Stoppers, Inc. met in an organizational meeting on Jan. 25th, 2011. The purpose of the organization is to expand the scope of fighting crime throughout Central Arkansas. The new organization replaces Pulaski County Crime Stoppers which was originally organized in 1985 as the North Little Rock Crime Stoppers.
The area of the new organization will be the counties of Faulkner, Garland, Jefferson, Lonoke, Pulaski, and Saline. Cities included are Conway, Hot Springs, Benton, Bryant, Pine Bluff, Cabot, North Little Rock, Jacksonville, Sherwood, and Maumelle. “Expanding our organization into six Central Arkansas counties allows all law enforcement agencies and the concerned public to work together to fight crime and apprehend the criminals. Recent instances have made it clear both crimes and tips from the public cross jurisdictional boundaries”, said Randy Johnson, Central Arkansas Crime Stoppers Chairman of the board. In addition to Chairman Randy Johnson, (ret) Pulaski County Sheriff, the officers are Vice Chairman, Pulaski County Sheriff Doc Holladay, and Secretary/Treasurer Bob Major with the North Little Rock Chamber of Commerce. The Board of Directors will be composed of the sheriffs and police chiefs of the member agencies as well as representatives from the communities. The entire board will be announced at a later date. The Crime Stoppers Hot Line will remain 501-340-TIPS (8477). KARK TV Channel 4 will continue to be the media partner for Central Arkansas Crime Stoppers. The program is a member of Crime Stoppers USA, Inc.
