| Bryant and Benton Police Arrest Two on Felony Charges |

The Special Investigative Unit (SIU), which is comprised of officers from the Benton and Bryant Police Departments, have arrested two suspects during the past two days with active felony warrants.
On 1/26/11, officers with the SIU observed a suspect with active felony warrants, Gary Dale Jones (B/M, 53 YOA), at the Bryant Wal-Mart Supercenter. With assistance from officers of the Bryant Police Department they placed Mr. Jones into custody without incident. Mr. Jones had four active warrants relating to a search warrant that SIU officers executed on 7/14/10 at 312 Reed Street. Jones was not found during the execution of the search warrant which lead to the warrants being issued. They were for Forgery 1st Degree (B-Felony), two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance (A-Misdemeanors), and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (A-Misdemeanor). Jones also had an active warrant for Failure to Pay Fines that was served on him. When taken into custody Jones was found in possession of 20 Methadone tablets and 4 Oxycodone tablets (Sch. II Narcotics). He was subsequently charged with Possession of Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver (C-Felony). His 2002 Chevrolet Malibu was seized at the scene and there were 4 more Hydrocodone tablets (Sch. II Narcotic). found inside in a plastic baggie. He was then charged with another count of Possession of a Controlled Substance (A-Misdemeanor). On 1/27/11, officers with the SIU observed a suspect, Matthew C. Maddox (W/M, 23 YOA), with active felony warrants at the intersection of Springhill Road and Hwy 5 North. With assistance from officers of the Bryant Police Department they placed Mr. Maddox into custody without incident. Mr. Maddox had two active felony warrants obtained by SIU officers for Residential Burglary (B-Felony) and Theft of Property (A-Misdemeanor). When taken into custody Maddox was found in possession of 8 Xanex tablets (Sch. IV Narcotic) and subsequently charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance (A-Misdemeanor). Both Jones and Maddox were transported to the Saline County Detention Facility for processing.
