Saline County law enforcement will be conducting a multi-jurisdictional warrant sweep on Friday, October 30th.  Approximately 50 officers from the Benton Police Department, Bryant Police Department, Haskell Police Department, Saline County Sheriff’s Office, and the US Marshals will take part in this endeavor.  The operational name of the warrant sweep will be Operation Ghostbuster. Officers will be making a concentrated effort to serve approximately 87 Felony warrants during this operation.

Anyone who knows or thinks they may have a warrant is encouraged to make contact with the police department immediately.  By contacting us they may be able to avoid additional fees such as impounding their vehicle if they are arrested on a traffic stop.  Also, by turning themselves in they can eliminate the embarrassing situation of being arrested in front of friends or family, during the holidays.  They also run the risk of being arrested at their place of employment during this operation.

If a person turns themselves in at the police department or sheriff’s office, they stand a chance of being released with a court date and not being incarcerated.  At the very least they won’t have it hanging over their head following them wherever they go.

This initiative is part of a reverse warrant initiative that the Benton Police Department will be conducting during the month of November.  The intent is to get the worst outstanding felony offenders off of the streets first and then concentrate on other offenders throughout the month.   All subjects with warrants are notified immediately by mail after a warrant is issued, but for whatever reason have not taken care of it.

If you know of someone who might have an outstanding warrant then you are encouraged to call the Benton Police Department tip line at 501-315-TIPS.
