SUSPECT CHARGED AFTER VEHICLE LANDS ON ROOF OF LOCAL BUSINESS

WilliamDickersonOn 11/25/15, at approximately 7:57 AM, officers with the Benton Police Department responded to the area of Military Road near the I-30 overpass on report of a reckless vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed.  Prior to their arrival, information was received that a vehicle had left the roadway on Hwy 5 N. and landed on top of a business (Tops Shoes).  
 
Upon their arrival at the business, it was determined by officers the vehicle matched the description provided by witnesses of the one driving reckless.  Officers made contact with the driver of the vehicle, identified as William Dickerson (47 YOA) of Mayflower.  Dickerson was then transported to a local hospital for what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries.  
 
Based on their investigation and evidence located, officers obtained an arrest warrant for Dickerson.  Dickerson is charged with DWI-Drugs, Possession of Controlled Substance (suspected Methamphetamine), Criminal Mischief 1st Degree, Possessing Prohibited Article, and Driving While Suspended. Additionally, Dickerson is an active parolee out of the Arkansas Department of Community Corrections.  This is an on-going investigation and additional charges could be possible.
