SUSPECT ARRESTED FOR POSSESSION OF METHAMPHETAMINE AND RX DRUGS

CharlesLongOn 9/14/15, at approximately 5:11 PM, officers with the Benton Police Department responded to request for a civil standby while two parties exchanged belongings. Upon their arrival, they made contact with both parties involved in the incident.  
 
A check of the individuals revealed that one, Charles Long (38 YOA) of Benton, had active warrants for his arrest. Whenever officers went to arrest Long they discovered that he had fled from the residence on foot.  Long was located shortly afterwards in some woods behind the residence and taken into custody without incident.  
 
Through their investigation it revealed that Long was in possession of suspected Methamphetamine and Xanax pills without a prescription.  Long was subsequently taken to the Saline County Detention Facility for processing.  
 
Long is charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance (Xanax) and Possession of Methamphetamine.  He was also held on warrants out of the Saline County Sheriff’s Office and the Bryant Police Department.  This is an on-going investigation and additional charges could be possible.
